Slowing Down the Clock
The morning began as any normal day. My alarm clock woke me in time to hear the end of the classical music stretch on NPR and the beginning of the news show. After shaking myself awake, I stumbled into the bathroom to shower. That's when it happened...
My eye caught a glimpse of something in the mirror- something the likes of which I have never seen in my life. It was hideous! I almost shouted. Tentacles in shades of brown and silver reached out as if they would break through the mirror and poison me with theirbriars. And the face, heaven help us, the face!
I carefully drew myself closer to the image in the mirror and mustered the courage to stare the thing dead in the eye. As I recognized, to my deep sorrow, that the beast was me, a greater horror occurred to me. My eye cream isn't working!
When it comes to anti aging eye creams, there is no shortage of products from which to choose. There are dozens available at my local pharmacy. Being an intelligent woman, I knew to examine the most expensive specimens first, since they will, certainly, be the most effective. I started with the $40 brands, and worked my way down to the $7 products.
The first thing I noticed when reading labels is the fact that there is an entire language devoted to the science of erasing crows feet and frown lines from around my eyes. Words like "acetyl hexapeptide 3," are common. For those of us who may know it by a different name, the label makers offer a helpful clarification of "argireline." Another common ingredient was "octyl methoxycinnamate." Like acetyl hexapeptide 3, I have no idea what this does, but it's fun to try to pronounce.
Ingredients with more familiar names were aloe vera, soy protein, elastin, and alpha lipoic acid. Then, of course, is the entire range of sunscreen ingredients and vitamins. Sun protection is available in strengths ranging from ten to apparently several thousand, and as for vitamins, I discovered E and C appear to be the most widely used.
After checking labels and comparing prices, I have to admit my head was spinning. There are so many considerations when it comes to choosing an anti aging eye cream. I discovered that more research was needed before I could make an intelligent decision. But there was not a moment to spare- the ravages of time were wreaking havoc on my countenance. Immediate action was needed.
And immediate action was available, apparently. It seems that with few exceptions, these products offer immediate results. But would the anti aging eye cream I finally settled on also offer long-lasting results? Common sense tells us that no product can fully turn back time. Experience tells us, however, that finding the right anti aging eye cream can
certainly slow the effects of time.
